The Apartments

The apartments are in a 17th century townhouse (maison de ville) in the centre of the medieval town of Belvès in the Perigord Noir region of the Dordogne in southwest France. The building is located just off the town hall square about 200 metres from the 15th century covered market (Halle). It has been recently renovated and the two upper floors have been converted into two fully self-contained, holiday rental apartments. Each has a total floor area of about 40 square metres with separate bedroom, bathroom and living-dining-kitchen areas.

The ground floor contains the central heating system and is used for storage and laundry. There is also a small flat for the use of the owner.

Apartment 1 on the first floor, has a single long balcony, a larger bedroom and a smaller, en suite bathroom. Apartment 2, on the second floor, has two short balconies, a smaller bedroom and larger, separate bathroom.

Each centrally-heated apartment has a separate bedroom with a double bed (sorry, not queen), bathroom and living-dining-kitchen areas. They are both fully furnished: cookware, crockery, cutlery and glassware are provided; and bed linen and towels are included. Each apartment is equipped with an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave oven (no conventional oven), washing machine (no dryer), satellite TV (tuned to French and UK stations) and wireless broadband Internet access (no computer).

While ideally suited for a couple, a double sofa-bed in the living room means that two couples can be comfortably accomodated.  For two couples or a couple with children, we suggest Apartment 2 if it is available because the bathroom is bigger and is accessible without having to go through the bedroom. It also has a double sink and wider vanity.

Parking: Only street parking is available but there is rarely any difficulty parking in the street near the apartments ( photographs). There is no private parking facility for either apartment.

The apartments are available year-round for short or longer-term rentals. A local manager and caretaker are available to provide support if required.
